The Princess

Hi! Do you think you can get me out of these chains?
— The Princess

The Princess is the main antagonist and deuteragonist of Slay the Princess. She is the unawakened form of the Shifting Mound—one half of the god the Narrator split in two. How she acts and looks depends on your perception of her. If you take the blade, you percieve her as dangerous, and so she is dangerous. If you don't take the blade, then you percieve her as harmless, and so she is.

You can get ten different variations of the Princess in Chapter II depending on how you interact with her in Chapter I.

  • If you take the blade, hesitate, then slay her and finish the job, you get the Adversary.
  • If you take the blade, hesitate, then slay her and give up, you get the Tower. You can also get the Tower by telling her she's going to end the world, then slaying her.
  • If you take the blade and slay her without hesitation, you get the Spectre.
  • If you decide to keep her locked away, you get the Nightmare.
  • If you take the blade and wonder if she's really unarmed, you get the Razor. You can also get the Razor by slaying her without hesitation and checking if she's really dead.
  • If you don't take the blade, try to free her, then slay her and give up, you get the Beast.
  • If you don't take the blade, try to free her, then slay her and finish the job, you get the Witch. You can also get the Witch by telling her you're going to free her on the stairs and then slaying her.
  • If you keep walking away from the cabin and never meet her, you get the Stranger.
  • If you take the blade and free her, you get the Prisoner.
  • If you don't take the blade and free her, you get the Damsel.
